 Foods For 9 Months and Up
At this age, most babies are drinking 24 ounces of milk (breast milk or iron fortified formula) each day and are eating 3 small meals. Many nine month old babies love to eat finger foods- but make sure the foods are soft, tiny and easy to swallow. Here is a list of foods for your
growing baby. When in doubt of allergies/sensitivities, consult your
child's pediatrician first! Remember no honey, eggs, nuts or shellfish until at least one years old.
9-12 mos:
mashed banana applesauce canned pears/peaches cooked cereals cheerios toast, lightly buttered graham crackers mashed potato soft veggies (cooked, ie carrots, peas, broccoli tips) cottage cheese yogurt (baby) pudding vanilla ice cream, frozen yogurt apple (peeled, cut into eighths) orange sections, peeled, cut peaches, ripe and peeled, cut cheeses, soft soft custards macaroni egg noodles rice soft cooked chicken, lamb, veal, beef spaghetti with meat sauce fish tiny meatballs
12+ months: banana, cut up cauliflower (steamed) cheery tomatoes, halved mushrooms lettuce, cut up avacado, ripe green beans cooked sweet potato french fries cooked peas rice noodles
fruit: apples, pears, peaches, seedless navel oranges (cut and peeled) fruit cocktail grapes, halved watermelon, pitted and cut cantaloupe honeydew dried fruits
meats: tender roasts (may grind) tiny meatballs ground hamburger meat veal, lamb, turkey, chicken (white meats healthier) tuna fish white fish fillet hot dogs (quartered lengthwise and without casing) no nitrate deli meat (turkey, ham)
breads: toast Zwieback saltines triscuits graham crackers bagels, cream cheese cold cereals cooked pasta
dairy: small cheese squares (low fat mozarella) cottage cheese yogurt well cooked egg (1 yr and older)
