Change in 2009! It seems like New Year's Resolutions aren't taken seriously anymore. Maybe its partly because we've all had our share of Resolutions that don't seem to last much past January. Or partly because we've felt pressure to come up with a list of Resolutions just so we can say we have some even if we have no intention of fulfilling them. And then of course we've all had Resolutions that we knew from the moment we put them to paper we had no chance in the universe of accomplishing. As the country prepares to usher in change, this year why not try a new approach? Taking motivation from the concept of change that galvanized the 2008 Presidential Election, this year at MommyBlueprint we are looking at long term big picture items. We are going to:
- Start with our MommyTips Categories: Our MommyTips cover five main topics that imact most moms. They are Me, My Kids, My Home, My Work, My Honey, and My Money. Add or subtract to this list as you see fit. Think of this as a kind of self assessment. Evaluate where you are in each of these categories and think about where you'd like to be. What needs improvement? What would you like to see different in the future? Write down your goals and the things you'd like to accomplish during this new year.
- A Realistic Plan: Realistically think about how you can meet your goals. Come up with a plan for each and write it down. Talk to someone else about your goals and plans. This can help incentivize you and can also provide a helpful resource for ideas and strategies on how to accomplish the results you want.
- Revist Your Goals and Plan Periodically: This is a year long plan. If you want your goals and plan to last beyond January, bring them out occassionaly. Evaluate your progress. Treat your goals and plan as a work in progress that can be adjusted if necessary.
- Cut Yourself Some Slack: Change doesn't come easy. It will require a lot of WORK! We all have setbacks or don't accomplish as much as we'd hoped for by the time we wanted. Remember, tomorrow is a new day.
Good Luck and Happy New Year!
